Let's all cross everything we can so the Stars win tonight....

I'm glad it's finally Wednesday. This week is dragging by, and I'm really tired. 'Course, I'll be tired till June, what with the playoffs and all...I have to go by Wal*Mart this afternoon, too; that always makes me tireder. Especially since I have to take the kids! But I have to make some cookies tonight, and I don't have enough stuff, and I can't send Mike cuz I need to get started as soon as I get home so I'm done before the game starts! I have to make a cake, too, but not till tomorrow.

finally

Hooray! The Stars finally won last night, scoring first, then allowing three goals, then clawing back with a goal with two seconds left in the second and another goal in the final minutes of the third to force overtime. Then they won! Yay! The only thing more exciting than hockey's sudden-death overtime is hockey's sudden-death overtime in the playoffs.... And there's a huge difference in being down three games to none and being down two games to one... nonetheless, they still really have to win Wednesday for me to feel comfortable!

I went to Lowe's this weekend. I love that store! Finally bought screen to replace the screens that got ripped up when the puppies were, well, puppies....I never wanted to bother with it until I knew they had grown out of jumping on the windows! So I got the two worst ones replaced, but then I ran out of screen... We also bought some stuff to get a start on the deck that we will, you know, eventuallybuild....

Playoff time

Argh. The Stars lost the first two games of the series against Colorado, so if they want to have any hope of coming back, they have to win their next two home games tonight and Wednesday. It's really gonna bite if they go out in the first round! The Stars are the second-best home team in the NHL; unfortunatly, the Avs are the second-best road team in the NHL. And if they go down by three this early, it'll be all but impossible to come back! I hope they win four straight and just get it over with, I can't stand the tension! A quick series run-down so far...
Detroit leads Nashville 2-1
Colorado leads Dallas 2-0
Vancouver leads Calgary 2-1
San Jose leads St Louis 2-0
Tampa Bay and Islanders tied, 1-1
Ottawa and Toronto tied, 1-1
Philly leads New Jersey 2-0
Boston leads Montreal 2-1
I'd like to see Tampa come out of the east, Martin St. Louis deserves it!

Mr Clean

Wow. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Buy lots. And lots. Finally found some today, and I tell you what, they're absolutely amazing. I have been scrubbing everything in sight. It even took stuff off the non-washable walls!
Also:
cleaned the skanky stuff in the shower
took the crayon off of, well, everything
took off the unidentified substance from the trackball
cleaned the sticker residue off the kids' doors
cleaned all the mud from the utility room
cleaned the odd stuff off the sink
took the crud form the computer
and performed other wonders
I am a happy girl!

Season in Review

And now it's time for the season in review, where we pick selected teams to admire or poke fun at....

New York Rangers
GM Glen Sather (that's former head coach and GM, now just GM) had a flurry of activity prior to the trade deadline, giving away star players in return for hopeful prospects with no business playing heavy minutes in the NHL and draft picks that he hopes to use wisely. The catch? American teams need not attend this yard sale.

LA Kings
Despite a staggering 609 man games lost, the Kings still managed to make a pretty good showing on the season. Even though they missed the playoffs, coach Andy Murray deserves top marks.

Anaheim Mighty Ducks
I began this season ready to hate Anaheim with a passion. But they never made it worth it! With Giguere wearing legal, properly secured pads, he couldn't touch his numbers from last season. The team as a whole, well, they sucked, managing only 76 points this season.

Pittsburgh Pengiuns
Man. What can you say? They were awful , until a late season run when it was too late to count. Unfortunatly, (or perhaps fortunatly, considering the draft picks) they still finished dead last in the league. Sorry, Mario, but you can't do it for them!

Washington Capitals
Another team who held a trade deadline price slash, but at least they sold equally to everyone, US and Canada. And, by the way, only finished one point above Pittsburgh.

Chicago Blackhawks
Revenue's poor and attendance is worse. And they don't broadcast home games. But as Ralph Strangis said, "They can't broadcast their home games or it would discourage people from coming."

Detroit Red Wings
Detroit is Detroit and always will be. I hope Brett Hull never retires.

Colorado Avalanche
A team with a stellar start and a sputtering finish. As Dallas faces Colorado in the opening round, I hope the trend continues!

Tampa Bay Lightning
The only thing controversial about Martin St. Louis in the pronunciation of his name. Personally, I hold firm with mar-TAN SAN loo-EE. He deserves league MVP honors.

And finally...

Dallas Stars
A lesson this season in "if only..." If only they hadn't had the December Meltdown. If only they'd done better against the Pacific Division. If only Turco would let other people whack guys around for him....Reguardless, they had a strong finish despite missing the division title, and should do well in the playoffs.

Big box of dead rats

Yay! The Stars trounced Chicago yesterday 5-2. There was a big sale on hats and shirts after the game, but by the time we got down there, all the jerseys were gone. I did get a nice white Stars shirt for five dollars, though. They're having another Stars garage sale (where they sell their gloves and stick blades and stuff) on April 24. Renée calls it the Big Box of Dead Rat Gloves sale. You know, for the smell. I'm only going if she goes, though, cuz it's all the way up in Frisco, and I haven't the slightest idea of how to get there! We had a good time. She showed me all her hockey stuff. It made me jealous...

They're NOT dogs

Well, the Stars play tonight...let's hope they can pull out a win...

I have my parents poodles this weekend. Horrid little beasts, those. They were in my house for three minutes before they pooped on my carpet. And I even took them outside before I brought them inside, but do you think they pooped out there? oh, no, not them! Anyway, I got a lot of stuff to do this morning, so I'll expand this later. TGIF!!

Poor Tugger

You gotta feel bad for Ron Tugnutt; since the Turco suspension, they've lost EVERY GAME!! It's not his fault, either, the Stars just haven't played well. Maybe it's one of those mental things.... We've slid into fifth now, and as it stands we get Colorado in the opening round...So much for home ice advantage in the playoffs! ARRRGH!!

I don't want to go to work today. There's already two people who have called in for today, which means I get to try to be in three places at once today, plus having all the kids in the school in the morning... till almost 7:30...

I need to start making cakes today for the Spring Fling this weekend. Which means I need to clean out some freezer space...
