Corson...

It's been raining for two days...our yard is ging to be soooo muddy. I can't wait till all our grass grows in... I really need to get some more seed, too.

Mike's sad now because I told him I was painting the bedroom next. He wants to leave the walls white. How boring! The kids have pitcures this week. Autumn's mad because her class is doing pictures on Friday, which means she has to wear a uniform that day. Usually they have free dress on Fridays...Brandon's is today. I like it better when they have pictures on the same day because then I only have to remember once...

The Stars picked up Shayne Corson last week. Convinced him to come out of retirement, actually. He should start playing for them soon, I know he had to get into shape first. I have kind of mixed feelings about this. You'll recall that he just kinda left Toronto last year during the playoffs last year and no one really knows why. The last thing they need is another psycho player like Eddie to cause problems. But on the other hand, Guy Carbonneau was key in getting him here, and anyone Carbo likes is fine by me! It seems there's also been a rash of coach leavings in the last day or two...Glen Sather removed himself from the Rangers bench (guys, it's gonna take more than a new coach), Joel Quenneville of St Louis and Bob Francis of Phoenix were both replaced, and two weeks ago it was Rick Dudley of Florida... The Stars tied a game that they really needed to win, but they played well and the goal that Turco allowed wasn't really a soft one, but they could have gained ground if they'd gotten both points...

lots of cool stuff

Yay! Stars won 4-0 yesterday...

Brandon's party went well. He got lots of cool stuff, and a pirate shirt that he will not take off. He took it off long enough to take a bath last night, but he put it back on to sleep in and he's still wearing it under his uniform today... He's been wearing it since his party. It's dirty. But I didn't want to listen to a fit... He also got a really cool pirate ship that he slept with last night...when I went to put some of his clothes away last night, it was on his pillow. This is a big ship, too! He got up at 5:30 Saturday morning and wanted to know if it was party time yet. And he didn't take a nap either...

The guy at the Roomstore never called me back, so I guess I'l have to call up there again this afternoon...I imagine that even if that table isn't available, there's another the same size I can get the glass from..

I'm almost done with the bathroom now, I just need to pick up a little more paint to do above the shower. Also I want to get some tile to do the backsplash of the tub. I rearranged my bedroom last night, too; I also got rid of the rickety desk that was in there. I need a little cart to put stuff in, though. We have a lot of room in there! I'm painting in there next.

icky ears and cracked tables

I had to take Brandon to the doctor yesterday; the poor kid has another ear infection in his left ear and I didn't want him to be sick on his birthday! He's all better today, though. We're going to the pirate restaruant (Long John Silver's) today for dinner, and he has pirate cookies to take to his friends at school...

Yesterday I learned that while ironing on a dining room tabletop is fine, it's not necessarily a good idea to do it on a glass tabletop. I kind of cracked mine a little. Which wasn't really a big deal, the crack was small and it was inside the glass so that you couldn't really feel it....but I guess it was creating pressure in the table because when we got back from the doctor, the whole table was kinda cracked in two... So now I'm just hoping we can purchase just the top ( fat chance) from the Roomstore, and if not, I have to go purchase a whole new dining table... It wouldn't be so be bad if a) it didn't cost money, and b) I liked wood tables...as it is, I really hate wood tables and it narrows down the selection, you know? I hope they still make the table I have now, that way I won't have to buy new chairs, too. My chairs match my table!

The Stars won last night. Yay! I didn't make it through the game as it started at 9:30, but I did hear the first and some of the second...

Arrgh!

Arrrgh! Stars have dropped their last two... What happened? Don't they realise we need these points??

I have to take Brandon to the doctor today, he was up all night complaining about his ear. He seems better today, but I'm still gonna take him so he's not sick on his birthday! I have to make pirate cookies for his class today to take to school tomorrow for his birthday. That was really awkward sentance structure, was it not? But you get it. I still have to go to work for an hour or so until someone else gets there....I'm the only staff in the building until 7:00.

Brandon's party is this weekend...I just pulled one of the napkins out of the package. Man, this stuff is funny. I wish everyone could see the napkins and plates and things I bought... Anyway, the front panel has an explaination of how pirates pick their names. I pulled the napkin out and unfolded it, and it turns out all the other panels have stuff too, like "Pirates often carry their swords in their teeth, even though this practice is frowned upon by the American Dental Association" and "Pirates spend Sunday afternoons reading the color comics" and they have funny little illustrations...

Three day weekend!

Thank goodness for three-day weekends....

I got a lot done this weekend. I finally got started on painting the bathroom; I have the base coat finished, now I have to decide on a color for the sponging. I got the house all clean and I got the rest of the stuff for Brandon's party... I couldn't find pirate wrapping paper, though. Got Brandon's invitations finished and put in the mail, put away two weeks worth of laundry, replaced the fence slat that Zephyr broke and discovered that I can't lift an eighty pound bag of concrete. Hm. Guess I'll have to get Mike to do that. Bought a wheelbarrow, made pirate duds for Brandon's classroom mascot ( a stuffed Clifford who he got to spend the weekend with), threw out the broken mini-blinds in his room and got stuff to make curtains...haven't done it yet... Made scarves for the kids, played in the snow that was here for half a day- an inch or so! - and ironed all my work clothes. All in all, I'd say it was a productive weekend...

Overtime would be great if it weren't for the ties...

I think we got the thing straightened out at the bank...I didn't really understand the explanation, but the upshot is that they're crediting the money back to us. They had returned the check for my car payment for some reason, and they said if it hadn't cleared the bank by Friday, I could call the people at Chase and tell them there was a bank error and it should be straightened out. What a mess!

the game last night was a good one. The Stars trailed 4-3 in the third, but scored with six seconds to tie the game and force overtime. The game ended tied, too...The kids didn't get to go to Nana's house Tuesday because she was sick, but she said she'd take them today instead. And Mike's mom said she'd watch the kids Friday night. I was worried we wouldn't get to go out for our anniversary! Gotta go pack lunches now...

If only every day were Jammie Day...

Our bank has screwed up and given us an insufficient funds charge for no reason...still trying to get it straightened out, too! I hate dealing with banks, even though the people at ours are really friendly...it's just the principle of it all!

Autumn is very excited because if she does all her chores this week, she will have finally earned enough money to buy her My Little Pony that she wants. She can't wait. I just hope the store still has it!

I get to wear my jammies to school today...the misc. staff and the office people all got jealous because we never get to do Jammie Day and Western day and all the other little parties, so we're doing our own and not sharing our snacks, either!

all-star game

wow. I did NOT want to get up this morning. I slept until 4:50 this morning, but luckily I made Brandon's lunch last night so I had some extra time today.

Mike had to work Saturday, but I didn't get anything done that day. Usually when Mike's not home I get the house clean. Sunday I went to Target and finished up all of Brandon's birhday shopping. All I've got left to do is buy the rest of the stuff for his party, you know, forks and stuff. I bought the plates and things on clearance before Autumn's birthday, and man are they cute!

The All-Star game was good yesterday, but not as good as last year's. I don't think anything will compare to that, with the great shoot out at the end. Joe Sakic got the MVP, which suprised me. Sakic deserved it with his hat trick, but I figured they'd be determined to give it to Messier. Turco made a good showing as well, allowing one goal on ten shots. Only Broduer did better with one goal on 11 shots. After the game Bettman was ranting about the CBA again. Everyone involved is being so stubborn...no one's any closer to agreeing on anything and next season's really gonna suck with no NHL...you can guarentee none of the networks are gonna jump on broadcasting the iffy World Hockey Leauge games...It's all very depressing, really...

hockey's great

Yay! Friday! This week has not been fun at all. I sure hope everyone is here today... Next Friday is gonna be even worse. There's already four people scheduled off. Maybe I'll just be sick that day...

The stuff I ordered for Brandon's birthday came yesterday. I love Oriental Trading Co. They have such wonderfully fast shipping! It only took 3 days and that's with standard shipping... Watched an interesting game between Colorado and Detroit last night. Colorado scored twice in twenty seconds about two and a half minutes in...and not again! The game ended up going to overtime, but in the last second of regulation play, Colorado incurred a double minor while they were already serving another minor, so Detroit had a four-minute power play going into overtime...starting off with a two man advantage. Needless to say, Detroit won...

stupid dog

Missy got out again twice yesterday...it's really not a big deal when she gets out by herself cuz she's such a scaredy-dog that she'll go straight to the front porch and cower. It was raining and thundering and stuff, so first she freaked out and broke off the two-by-fours we had nailed over her hole, so we put particle board over that so she couldn't see through it, which prevented her from digging there; instead she broke a new hole in the fence. Dumb dog. She goes and cowers on the porch every time she does this, when I'd imagine she'd be both drier and warmer in the doghouse with Zephyr... I think if my dad is done with his electric fence, I might borrow a bit for that end of the fence. It's only a section maybe ten feet long...

The Stars won again last night...they hold the current unbeaten streak but they still can't catch friggin San Jose for the top spot in the division. They still play SJ twice more this season, so if they win both those games we'll have a good chance at it.

Autumn has the nastiest lunchbox in the world. She won't throw her trash away, so nasty leftover lunch stuff just gets spread all over the inside. Plus the lining is ripped so food and stuff gets all up on the inside of the insulation. It's stinky. I tried washing it again but if it doesn't work we'll have to toss it!

Pirate Translator

Oh, the web gems we stumble across...I found this one today. I thought it was devestatingly funny....it's a Pirate Translator...you type in the web address you want (and hit "enter"-it doesn't say that and it took me a minute to figure out...) and it translates it into PIRATE! Boundless fun, me hearties!

Bobby Knight

Would you believe Bobby Knight is in trouble again? I heard on the radio this morning that he cussed out his boss in a grocery store. Smart, huh?

I went to bed early last night and I still didn't want to get up. I don't think I slept very well, though. I kept waking up all night long. Mike was hogging the bed and the cat was playing in the hallway...I could hear her tearing up and down chasing who knows what....

I think I'm going to get a big box and fill it up with the kids old toys while they're at Nana's house today. It's way easier to do that when they're not here, you know. Brandon especially. He's got tons of cars he doesn't play with. Autumn's got lots of stuff, but it all goes together, you know? It's all Barbie or Polly or pony. She's got a lot of toys, but not much that she doesn't play with. I need to get her some sort of drawers to put her stuff in....

Stupor Bowl

I watched the Super Bowl last night.. the first half was kinda dull and we were gonna go to bed after the third quarter, but then Carolina scored that touchdown and we decided to stay up...

Autumn is such a grouch in the mornings. I feel bad for Brandon because he tries to be nice to her, and she's just mean to him...it's kinda funny, really!

I think all we did this weekend was run errands. Saturday morning Mike took my car to get the oil changed. They don't ever do a very good job, but it's under warranty so it's free anyway, and besides, I don't have a floor jack. Next year, I'll be doing it myself! That afternoon, we went looking for a birthday gift for Brandon; we had to go to three stores before we found something! We got him this pirate fort thingy, and we saw some other stuff to get too... we also bought a deep freeze for the garage...I can open my freezer now and actually see what's inside. Ooh! And I have room to buy Sonic ice now! I finally got arond to buying a stud finder, too; it was one of those things that kept slipping my mind so I finally just put it on my grocery list. I told Mike I wanted a laser level for our anniversery. I'm such a romantic, huh? I'm buying him a book...Sunday we had to go buy the dog food and bread that we forgot Saturday, but Mike did that by himself. I usuallt go to Wal-Mart on Monday to pick up the stuff that we had out of over the weekend, but as we didn't run out of anything, I don't have to go. Yay!
