hate the Sharks hate the Sharks hate the Sharks

The Stars and Sharks both play tonight; may the Stars win and the Sharks lose!

My kiddos are extra whiny today. At least Autumn is. She's been crying about getting dressed all morning. Mike went back to working ten hours starting today. Overtime always seems like a spur of the moment decision to the powers that be up there. He always finds out the day before, and it never starts on Monday! The extra money is nice, but he doesn't get home till 5:00 or so. On the other hand, he has to get up earlier, and it's easier for me to get out of bed when he's not in there, still asleep!

This week is dragging by. It's really no fun at all! And I think there's a couple of people going to be out today... Oh well, at least that means I'll be busy and the day will go by fast!...Yesterday on my way to work, my red wine vinegar spilled on the inside of my bag. I had to take everything out and rinse it out at school. It was smelly! My car still kinda smells like that. Anyway, I suppose that's it since I'm rambling.....

AAARRRRGH! The Stars played last night and the night before, and lost in OT both times after not having lost in overtime all season ! Tugnutt's played fine in both games, but it's hard not to blame Turco's being suspended at a time they need him most. Plus Zubov, Numminen, Lehtinen, Barnes, Young and Klemm all suddenly out with injuries at a critical time... The only wat we'll get the division title now is if we win all three remaining games and the Sharks lose all three of theirs. I hope San Jose chokes on their extra point!

I got Autumn's room all painted Saturday afternoon. She's happy with it. Jessica came over last night with her kids and now Katie wants ponies in her room, too...

bleh

I was sick yesterday...it wasn't any fun, either! I had some sort of virus. I don't remember the last time I missed a day of work because I was sick! Usually it's Brandon that's sick...

I had managed to get tickets to the last game of the season for me and Mike...it was gonna be a suprise, but Alison didn't know it was a suprise and had said something about it...oops! So he found out early, but he was still happy. San Jose won last night, so now we're five points back, and with Turco's stupid suspension, it's gonna be even harder to get points...They really have to win all five games left in the season, and it would be nice if San Jose would lose two...

I'm almost finished with Autumn's wall; I've been painting My Little Ponies on it for her. She's happy about it... She got her new special order pony in the mail today, so I need to go play ponies with her now...

being poor sucks

Yay! The Stars won last night! I have to admit that I fell asleep after the second period-these west coast trips kill me, when the games don't start till 9:00 or 9:30- and I thought that they had lost 3-2. But they scored a last minute goal and then scored again in overtime to win 4-3. Hooray! And they've officially clinched a playoff spot now too; there wasn't really any doubt but it's good to be sure!

I'm glad Mike gets paid this week, I have to pay for the kids pictures and Autumn's hot lunches this week, plus all our bills... Don't you hate when you have all your money spent before you get it?

I heard a story on the radio this morning that prison guards in Edmonton are no longer allowed to wear stab-proof vests on the job. They don't want the prisoners to be (gasp!) offended! Apparantly, the vests are "confrontational" and interfere with the "dynamic" relationship with the guards...the guards are supposed to talk to the prisoners and ask them how they feel... Thank God! I thought Americans were the only people PC to the point of idoicy...

Yay! Tha Stars won again last night! You know, if they'd figured out how th play as a team earlier in the season, they'd be in first in the league. They're one point out of first in the division now, so lets all hope San Jose loses today! Yay!

Convoluted math

Yay! San Jose lost yesterday, and Vancouver lost yesterday, and the Stars play Calgary today, so it they win, they'll be a point out of first in the division and have fourth in the conference...and the higher they are, the more home ice they'll get... Math is fun at five o'clock in the morning!

Well, it's back to work today...The kiddos are always awful the first day back from a vacation. They always come in crying, and clinging to their moms and dads...it's awful. They've all been spoiled for a week and now they have to come back to school and follow rules and stuff...

I had a nice weekend; it was a little on the hot side on Saturday, but I got a lot done in the yard...I started work on a second small retaining wall by the fence, and I'm going to extend about three feet of lattice above the back fence and run some morning glories up it to keep those brat girls behind us from throwing stuff at my dogs and teasing Zephyr....we've both told her not to lean over our fence and tease the dog or he'll bite, but she still does it. I won't feel bad for her a lick if Zephyr bites her, but I'm sure her parents will feel differently... Saturday night I couldn't sleep for anything; I ended up awake till about 4:00, and then the kids woke me up again at 6:00; at eight Mike got up and told me to go back to sleep. I get the feeling there was no way he was gonna let me get up as grouchy as I was, so I slept till after eleven...

Gorillas Gone Wild

you see? I never did like the Dallas Zoo...it's not nearly as nice as the Ft Worth Zoo. Anyway, yesterday, a gorilla escaped and had to be shot by Dallas Police after injuring 4 people...

The Stars shut out Vancouver yesterday. They've put together a 16 game home unbeaten streak. Pretty impressive...too bad five of their remaining eight games are on the road. Unfoutunatly, SJ won too, so we're still three points back! The Stars are also one point out of fourth, but they're also only one point out of sixth...Vancouver and Calgary need to do us a favor and lose a couple of games.

I ran across a kind of, um, oddish site today...The Institute of Official Cheer. It's worth wasting a little time on... interesting bits of pop culture from the past are made fun of...

Gravity+physics=disaster

Happy St. Pat's! I don't have to work today, so I thought I'd relate a story and teach a valuable lesson all at once this morning....

First, let me preface this tale by saying that I am an intelligent woman, but when I get involved in something, it's usually to the exclusion of everything else...I'm painting my bedroom a rather splendid shade of tan, about the color of sandstone. It's really quice nice. So, of course, painting the walls involved moving all the miscellaneous stuff away from the walls, so I'm taking drawers out of dressers and the like so that I can move all our furniture and stuff. So, of course, when I get to the aquarium, I have to drain it, because thirty gallons of water weighs rather a lot, I'm afraid. Now, draining an aquarium isn't really all that difficult; just a matter of a largish bucket and a long bit of tubing and physics, but (now here's the tricky part, so pay attention) you have to remember that you're doing it because otherwise your four-year-old will come in sometime later and go, "mommy, that's spilling..." Oh my God! Water everywhare, the aquarium is half empty when the bucket was only designed to hold maybe eight gallons of water, and by the way, small fish become quite distressed when sucked through tubing barely bigger than they are and then deposited into a bucket... Thank goodness for steam cleaners/water exractors...

I bought iron-on transfer paper for the printer yesterday. Yay! I had loads of fun with it. You might be interested to know that you can't actually iron on a transfer on to flip-flops. Didn't really think you could, but I thought I'd try...

Sucky Sharks....

uhhhh....... Hey guess what? I don't have to work tomorrow! Or Friday! Nyah!!!! I took a couple of vacation days because work is soooooooooo boring this week. It's Spring Break so there's a lot of kids out and there's nothing to do! I'll be even more bored today because I did a lot of my work for today yesterday.... I left at one o' clock yesterday, too!

Stars play the Sharks tonight at 7:30, so if you have any kind of toy shark, be real mean to it at that time! For my part, I plan on sawing gummy sharks into teeny tiny pieces with a knife... I'm sure Renèe will be voodooing her stuffed shark, too...anyway, gotta run, I slept too long this morning!

Monday, March 15, 2004

Mike's little deposit was for money they owed him, and he still got paid, plus we got a check from the mortgage company, so I got all caught up on my bills. Yay! I like being caught up. We also got a new friend this weekend...she's a guinea pig named Frodo. I guess they thought she was a he when they named it Frodo. Anyway, Renèe had rescued it from a person who decided to leave it in their horse trough and she gave it to me...we all call it Fat Frodo because it's, well, fat. I thought guinea pigs were like big hamsters, but it's really more like a bunny with no ears. She's really nice, but she sheds...

The Stars finally had a good day yesteday, shutting out Chicago 4-0. So we're back to within three of San Jose; I don't know if SJ playes again before we play them tomorrow...I hope not! I finally remembered to renew my tags...I bought Stars liscense plates this time. I can't wait till I get them!

I want to go buy some plants today. It's finally spring....

Randomness...

Mike's direct deposit today was only $213 instead of the $800 it should have been...I sure hope that's the money they owed him and not that they screwed up his check... although I'm betting on that they screwed up his check since last time they payed him money they owed him they put it on his check...arrgh!

I hate food in tubes. The idea of it is gross. Yogurt, pudding, jell-o; it's nasty! Autumn loves the yogurt in tubes. I'll buy it because it's the only way that she'll eat yogurt and I know it's good for you, but I won't watch her eat it. And while we're at it, I don't like this low carb craze sweeping across us. I like my carbs, thank you very much, and I'm worried that soon I won't be able to buy normal food!

I got the kid's pictures back already...they came quick this year! They turned out pretty good.

The Stars only tied last night, and San Jose won, thus putting the Stars three points back from first....

Pittsburgh??!!

The stupid Stars lost to stupid Pittsburgh last night. Pittsburgh! This is a team who had only won fifteen games this season...and they beat the Stars soundly, too, 4-0. Aubin made 45 saves. Stupid! Fortunatly, SJ lost, too; that means we didn't lose any ground...but we should be tied for first now and not still back by two!

There were 4 people out yesterday morning at work. Only one person who pulls kids from me in the morning showed up, so I ended up with a ton of kids... It wasn't fun. I hope today goes better! It would be nice if everyone came. I don't want to go to work today, I'm too sleepy! I kept waking up last night and thinking it was time to get up, but it wasn't... I guess that's it for now...

Viacom vs. Dishnet

The kids cartoons didn't come on this morning, and it turns out Viacom and Dishnet are fighting about some rate kike. So no Franklin and no Maisy in the morning, and no Spongebob in the afternoon. I wonder how long that's gonna be? It's also MTV and CBS....ESPN is owned by Disney and Fox Sports Net is owned by, well, Fox, so it doesn't affect me much... Brandon's already complaining about missing Franklin, though.

It's only Tuesday and I already have our pay spent for next Friday...I hate these five week months! I had a long time ago set up all our bills to fall due the first and third weeks, and now he gets paid the second and fourth weeks.... Anyway.

Renée gave me these CD hockey card thingys. It's shaped like a card but you can put it in the CD drive of the computer and I guess it comes up with stories and info on the players but I haven't tried it out yet. I forgot I had it till this morning! I'll have to look this afternoon, though.

The little towel ring in the kids' bathroom keeps breaking off. They need a new one, but it's not something I ever think about!

Monday, March 08, 2004

Ha!!

Stars beat San Jose! Yay!

I finally finished painting the bathroom last night, but I still want to buy some tile for the backsplash of the tub and the bottom of the shower. I can't wait till this weekend, we're so poor this week! Mike doesn't get paid till the 12th, which throws everything off bill-wise. It's these five week month that do it! I miss weekly pay. Or at least definate pay dates. Mike still doesn't know when he's supposed to start second shift, they haven't told him yet. And now he says he doesn't know if it's really more pay other than the shift premuim. He hasn't asked anyone who knows yet. At least it'll be inside, and he won't be in the sun once summer starts...

More money=good

I'm really glad it's Friday because I don't think I could make it through one more day! Autumn took a lunch last week on Friday, but then she decided that she wants pizza after all, so I didn't have to pack any lunches. Yay! I have to go to the grocery store today. Yuck.

Mike's taking a new position at work for more pay (yay!). He'll be on second shift for awhile, which doesn't really bother me...it's third shift I don't like. He said that the second shift is temporary till the guy on first shift gets a new job-he went through fireman school- and then he'll be back to first. I forget what the job is- saw something?- but it's a step up from what he was doing, but still not machine operator, which is what he interviewed for. I forgot to ask how much it paid...

The Stars play tonight, I hope they can keep up the winning. I know they can't win every game, but they need the points! They've been winning so long that I'm afraid they'll stumble soon...I just hope it's not against San Jose on Sunday!

I like to say Konowalchuk

Yay...the Stars won again last night. It was a good game, too! Billy Guerin had his third hat trick this season. I should have bought him back on my fantasy team!

It's supposed to storm all morning. But I suppose that's springtime in Texas for you! It was so humid yesterday. Yuck. It's starting to rain now, though, so maybe it'll be easier to breathe. Mike starts working overtime today, ten hour days and Saturday. Good thing, too, because we need the money! Unfortunately, it wont show up for about three weeks...

Stupid San Jose won again last night. How do they keep winning? It's so irritating...The Rangers and the Capitals have spent the last few days dealing, well, everyone. All the Rangers have now are young kids and draft picks. They've given up Kovalev, Nedved, Markkanen, and Leetch in the last two days, and Washington has gotten rid of Gonchar, Jagr, Bondra, Lang (to Detroit, like they need more talent), and Konowalchuk. Have fun shouting "Who's that" next time these teams play!

Clean up

I finally got the new set of shelves for the garage put together...I had bought them on Friday and promptly forgot about them! I can't stand having stuff sitting on the floor. Spiders, you know. I still need to put the things in the attic that go up there, though, there's a couple of things still need to be put up there from the last garage sale. I sure hope we're having another neighborhood one in July so I can get rid of more crap...

I hate San Jose

wow...I skipped a few days! The Stars had a great weekend, winning 3-1 on Firday and a great 5-4 OT win yesterday. We missed the first half of the game because we finally got to go see Miracle, which was an excellent movie. Highly recommended! It's funny how involved you can get in a movie even though you already know how it ends. Anyway, the Stars came back from being down 4-1 to win. It was great! Unfortunatly, SJ keeps winning and is still six points ahead of Dallas...they really have to win all three games coming up against SJ...

Um, I guess there's really nothing to write about today! Nothing interesting has happened recently...
