No Milk

Let me tell you about my afternoon...

Mike had to go to to work early, so he didn't have a chance to peel potatoes for me. So I thought I'd do it as soon as I got home, and I was all proud because generally when mashed potatoes are involved, dinner's late because I forget to start them early. So, it's about 3:30 and the potatoes are boiling. I also decided that since a have a bunch of cookies to make tomorrow, I'd get a head start and make the frosting today. So I've got the shortening and the vanilla in the mixer when I realise I can't get any farther because there's no milk. So. That'll have to wait till tomorrow. So I decide to mash the potatoes and when I'm all ready I realise...there's no milk. So I can't mash the potatoes, but that's OK because I like boiled potatoes and we'll have those with the chicken. So I get out the chicken, and a bowl, and the flour, and an egg, and realise....there's no milk.

We had chili dogs. On bread, because in addition to no milk, there's also no buns.

Razor quote of the night....he referred to the Stars penalty killing as "laxative for their offense." Stars won, too. Yay!

Oh yeah, and I posted a few pics from Brandon's party. only a month late.

Spring cleaning

Got a lot done yesterday....cleaned the garage, put Christmas in the attic, trimmed the tree where the kiddos broke it, did a little in the garden. All the while I was thinking that it was Saturday- I had a training all day Saturday to go to and so it was like working six days. Yuck.

Mike didn't get a paycheck last week, so I couldn't buy groceries (or anything else)so I had to take all his tips from yesterday to go buy a little food today. Nothing like having to go to Wal*mart on Monday.

Here's the story...

Last week, he worked very little because something on his machine blew up (while he wasn't there, so they can't blame him!)and the couldn't fix it till the weekend. And when I say very little, I mean maybe nine or ten hours. So anyway, Thursday comes and no deposit. Friday he making calls trying to figure out what happened--because of course he never brought home his stub-- and it turns our that he made just enough after taxes to cover the stuff that comes out, insurance and dental and all. No money, no check! Wow. I can't wait till my car is paid off.

Yay! The Stars won yesterday! Too bad we still can't catch Detroit for top spot in the West, but darn it, they just won't lose! Turco got an NHL-leading 38th victory in the game, and Modano set a franchise record for power-play goals. Bill Guerin is still listed as week-to-week...I hope he gets back in soon.

Goodbye, old friend

Do what must be done...do not hesitate, show no mercy.

It's true. I've gone over to the dark side.

I've removed the Mac from the desk. No more side-by-side computers. My old friend is gone, and the anonymous PC has taken the place of honor. I'm pretty sad, but reason has prevailed. Damn reason. Unfortunately, I rather stupidly didn't transfer any email addresses, so you guys feel free to send an email so I can get your addresses back.

Lucius

Hey! I made it work! It turns out the difficulties lay in impatience...

Yay Stars

My Stars have been doing very well lately. Except last night when they lost, darn it. They're pretty firmly in second place in the West, but they just can't quite seem to catch Detroit. I believe that now they're six points back, which means that the Stars have to win three and Detroit has to lose three. So please join me in hating the Wings for the next few weeks...

Bill Guerin got a nasty nasty cut when he caught a stick in the eye last week. Ten stiches below his eye, two stitches ON HIS EYELID, surgery to repair his orbital bone, plates inserted, the whole bit. He's not allowed to do anything till Wednesday when he'll be re-evaluated. We need Billy Guerin.

Jussi Jokenin missed.

The kid was perfect in shootouts. Better than anyone. Nine for nine and also converted on his only penalty shot, but a goalie finally stopped him the last time Stars went to shootout. However, the Stars still won, leaving them best in the league at 10 for 10 in the new shootout.

I'd been having a really good run with my fantasy hockey team, but then the guy behing me had two really good nights in a row and I've been chasing ever since. I've been stuck in second place for about a week and a half. I don't like second place.

Last week was spring break, so the work load was really light. Unfortunatly, they all came back yesterday. I wasn't ready. But, only two more months till summer! I can deal with that. The kiddos are staying home this summer so we can save some money. I can't wait till this year's over so my car will be paid off.

Um, I'm sure there's more to talk about since I don't think I've done this in a week or so, but my brain doesn't work this early. Sorry.

Yeah, so it's been awhile. What do you want from me?

I didn't have to work Monday. I wish I had every Monday off, makes the week go by faster. The kids have spring break this week, and I took the day with the intention of taking them to the park or something, but as it turned out, we didn't end up doing anything. Oh well. Kay came and took them to Glen Rose to see the dinosaurs and stuff yesterday, so they did at least get to do something for spring break!

Mike came home early yesterday and today, which means we'll be dirt poor next week. But really, what else is new? Also, I wrote a check for my car payment yesterday and now I can't find it. And I don't remember mailing it, either...I guess I'll have to wait and see...

I got my new shoes Friday. Feels wierd to wear shoes with no holes.

Got a book from the library Saturday. It's called Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. It was a good one, about what happens right as the Clone Wars are ending, and also goes into a little bit of detail about why Vader's suit is different in EP3 than it is in 4, 5 and 6. Now I'm reading Outbound Flight.

I slept with the windows open the last couple of nights, so it's been nice and cold in the mornings. Unfortunatly that's also made it hard to get up...

New Shoes

In 3-7 days. FedEx will bring me new shoes. Yay! My venerable Chuck Taylors are getting less "broken in" and more "falling apart." Since I never part with any of them, I'm thinking of getting a shelf for all my retired All-Stars. A few candles maybe. You know, just a little shrine.

We took the kids to McDonalds this weekend and let them eat in and play on the playscape and all that. Anyway, I'm looking at my receipt and it has an "eat in tax" of a dollar twenty-five. And so now I'm wondering, is it cheaper to drive through than eat it? How could the tax possibly be different? Wierd.

Super foggy today. Maybe I should leave early.

Unlucky

I didn't win the lotto last night. Damn.
