Razor's got a blog!

Yay! As the season gets closer (yay!) things just get better and better...

Razor's got a blog!

http://blog.dallasstars.com/

For those of you who don't know, Daryl "Razor" Reaugh is the best hockey color guy around, and we Dallas Stars fans are lucky to have him. This is a guy who can make up his own phraseology and get away with it; he's a blast to listen to. No dry commentary from him!

I've missed Razor with an Edge this past year. Welcome back, Razor, and good luck!

Our new neighbors moved in next door last week. I haven't met them yet, but their dogs came to live at their new house yesterday. They've got a big dog and a little dog. The big dog does not stop barking. Ever. It doesn't eat, it doesn't sleep, it doesn't go in the house. It barks. And barks. Thank God my dogs don't stand at the fence and bark back...

New site for ya

http://dumbledoresarmy.12.forumer.com/index.php

Dombledore's Army--this is Kodiak's baby, but I'll tell you a little about it. It's a brand new ground floor forum for Harry Potter. The nice thing is, it's geared more to adults, so it's for actual, in-depth type discussion. As he said, not that kids aren't welcome, but...

I learned something interesting yesterday that I thought I'd share with you. As it turns out, it's not a good idea to shave when you're inebriated. Now, I know some detractors will just say that's plain common sense, but some of us would rather have a practical demonstration to learn, so there you are, then.

Blissfuly occupied

Sorry there's been no entries...I'm simply overwhelmed with all the hockey! There's so much so read! Yay! The Stars ended up with the 28th pick in the entry draft, which isn't too bad since we've already got good prospects. More pressing is the problem of who to keep! It's very doubtful thet they'll be able to keep both Modano and Guerin, which is awful since they both want to stay and no one wants to see either one go. I'd imagine if one goes it'll be Billy; Modano's been a Star his whole career. I can't see the organization buying him out; there'd be mutiny.

We went to Burger's Lake yesterday, which is an incredibly nice place, if a bit pricey. It was cleaner than any lake I've ever been to, very family oriented, there were nice shady areas and lots to do.. There were about six lifeguards posted there too. It was a little crowded, but all in all, very nice. I'd go back if I could come up with the money for it. Mike's company picnic was there, so we didn't have to pay yesterday. They had door prizes (ok, so there wasn't a door, but you know what I mean) and Mike's boss (Bob 129) was letting kiddos draw the names. When Autumn drew, she picked her daddy's name. Very suspicious.

TGIF

It's been a busy week and I'm glad it's over! I've been painting all week, and guess what? I'll be painting again today! But oh well, at least I'm getting paid and it's better than REAL work.

Mike's company picnic is tomorrow. It should be fun, it's at Burger's lake and from all I've heard it's a really nice place. I guess that means we have to set an alarm so we get up though!

The CBA has been ratified now, so the following week should be busy. I can hardly wait!! I'm so starved for news that I'll probably overload this next week and go into shock or something. It'll be great!!

Harry Potter! Yay!

I finally got the new Potter book yesterday. Usually I pre-order books, but what with one thing and another, I didn't get to this time. I love getting a book and knowing no one else has opened it yet. It's mine . Anyway, I got three hundred pages into it before I realised that it was eleven o' clock and 4:15 was going to come awfully early!

I spent my whole day painting another teacher's classsroom yesterday. We moved a few classes across campus, and they're supposed to be done Friday, but she was really behind and I told her I'd help! Hopefully we'll finish today; I'm tired of looking at red paint...

First Pick in the Sidney Crosby Lotto

Bet you guys missed me...

We had our garage sale this weekend. We didn't get rid of as much stuff as I had hoped, but we got rid of some of it, and we made about forty dollars. The kids made over six dollars selling lemonade, too.

I've spent the last two days deep-cleaning the house instead of just picking up like I usually do. I feel like I've done nothing but clean, but you can't even tell the difference. It's frustrating! I don't know if it's a good thing or bad that everything's put away nd clean but it still looks the same...either the house is usually neat or the kids are just running behind me and messing stuff up. Not sure which!

The NHL will have to hold a draft lottery to see who picks first during the board meeting Friday. All 30 teams will have some shot at winning the first pick, but clubs that have missed the playoffs in recent years will have extra pingpong balls in the weighted lottery. Columbus, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and the New York Rangers will have the maximum of three pingpong balls. I'd hate to see someone like Sidney Crosby saddled with one of those four teams....but then, what with the salary cap and all, all these teams will have a different look. Who knows who will come out on top?

Autumn went shopping for school clothes with Nana this weekend. Most of the stuff she brought back is pretty cute, and now she's mad because I won't let her wear them to play in. It's NOT FAIR!!! I'm MEAN!!!

New hockey news!!

Yay! There was new hockey news today! I'm soo happy not to be staring at a dry well every time I log on to Sportsline... not much, just that Mike Babcock took the coaching job in Detroit--now, there's a team that's gaurenteed to have a whole new look in October. With their massive sixty million dollar payroll, they're gonna have to do some cutting!

Our garage sale is tomorrow and I still haven't marked anything. I'm gonna be up all night. Our whole neighborhood does this every year, so lots of people come. And I get rid of junk! Yay!

YAY!!!!

Put down the golf clubs, boys; it's time to go back to work!!!

Players and owners finally agree on a labor deal that will end the 10-month NHL lockout.

Yay, yay, YAY!!! YAY!!!!!

I can actually look foward to an off season, instead of no season. Yay! A draft. Prospects. Deals. Free agents. Coaching changes. And speaking of, how about Coach Gretzky??

Gretzky had spoke of this before, but always said there would be no decision until there was a labor agreement. Well, there's one now, so how about it, Wayne? Wanna coach the Coyotes?

Finally added a couple of new pictures to the album site...I still can't make Blogger's image post work, darn it!

Yay Lowe's!

We managed to get a lot done this weekend. Mike had to work Saturday, but we went to Lowes Sunday to buy stuff. I love Lowe's! Anyway, we're redoing the front flowerbed again--Mike said last night that if we had regular neighbors they'd be looking at us and going "they're digging in their front yard? Agian??" cuz we do this about once a year... maybe someday I'll be done!

I made ice cream Saturday night, but I started it too late and the kids fell asleep on the kitchen floor waiting for it. It was funny, I took pictures. I tried to post it here, but I can't make the photo posting button work, so I'll post it on the album page this afternoon!

No more lockout??

The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the owners and the union had completed negotiations to end the lockout. I was so happy...until the owners and the union jumped all over te report, calling it premature, inaccurate, and "simply not true". Imagine my disappiontment. They have, however, indicated that they're close; maybe there's hope it'll end soon?

Happy 4th!

Long weekends are nice!

Oh yeah, except for Friday. We had a little storm blow through Friday, but it was enough to knock out our power. Now, imagine being in Texas, in the afternoon, in July, with no AC. For five hours! It was 6:30 before our power came back on, and was it ever hot in here. Not fun! Other than that, I was really looking foward to this weekend. It was the first in a long time that we didn't have anything to do, and it was nice to relax. I didn't even have to leave the house Saturday; that was a rare treat in itself. Sunday night we went to see the fireworks -- Midlothian puts on a great show every year, it's something the whole town turns out for. Can't beat sitting on a blanket on a grassy hill and watching fireworks. It'd be perfect but for the rednecks!

Monday Gary Thorne called a baseball game. That was cruel. I was sitting at my computer minding my own business when I heard his voice, so I shot out in the livingroom expecting hockey ( it would have been an old game, of course, but beggers can't be choosers) and it was baseball! Not that I have anything against baseball, it's a worthy sport, but the lack of hockey is killing me. Supposedly they're going to be signing an agreement in the next couple of weeks, but I'll believe that when I see it...

Sleeping habits

It takes me a long time to fall asleep at night, so I have lots of time to think about things while I'm laying there. And over the last couple of weeks I've noticed two things--I only roll counter-clockwise and I don't curl up, I curl down, which tends to result in me waking up halfway down the bed. But not only that, there's particular steps I take within the rolling, too. Here's what happens:

I'll lay down on my right side first. After a while, I'll roll onto my stomach, then I'll roll to my left side by pushing my left arm under my body to the right side. Then it's onto my back and I tuck my right foot under my right shoulder (I know this sounds impossible if you've never seen it, but it's a normal way to relax for me!) then back to my right side again, the whole process repeating any number of times. And on each side, my hands, feet and legs have set places to go. Regardless of how long it takes, though, I always sleep on my stomach.

All this made me wonder...does everyone have habits like this, or am I just odd? Cuz Mike lays down on his back and he's asleep in two minutes. I suppose probably everyone has their own little habits, but being that you sleep from birth, most people don't notice them all that much. And I'd imagine most people don't really care, either...
