Swept!

Yay! The Stars swept St. Louis this weekend...they get Detroit tonight, and hopefully it'll bring out the best in them. It should be a good game...

Autumn brought home her report card Friday, and she's still doing well; the only thing she's having trouble with is cursive L and, oh, one other letter. It's already out in the car, though.

I had wanted to work on the bathroom this weekend, but I never did get around to going to Lowe's. Which is just as well, since I don't have money this weekend anyway! I still need paint and wood...plus I'm having trouble picking paint colors.

I still need to cancel my long distance...they've (out of nowhere) started charging a minimum fee per month, and I haven't made a long distance call since March a year ago, when I placed a one minute call to San Antonio. So, needless to say, I don't wanna pay for something I don't use!

Yay! It's finally Friday! It's been a long week, with a lot of people out. I have to go to the grocery store today, too. Yuck.

The Stars play a home and home with St. Louis tonight and tomorrow. They'd better win, too...the end of the season is getting a little too close, and there's too many bubble teams for comfort...We're all decked our in our Stars stuff (except for Autumn, who doesn't have any) to send some support...as a matter of fact, I'm wearing two Stars shirts, plus the Stars lanyard ReneƩ bought me that has my badge and time card on it...

Chores? Work???

Well. They didn't win the game that they should have, and now they're nine points out of the division lead. Wow. It sure would be nice to make the playoffs, but I don't know that they will. So much for a good season of hockey before the CBA sends it all down a dark, slimy hole....

Autumn has a chore chart now, where she does certain chores and gets a nickle apiece for them, and at the end of the week we add up all the chores on the chart that she did to see how much money she earned that week. I won't give her money for nothing, you see, and she wants a new pony....Anyway, she thought this was a great idea...until she realised that work was involved. It's gonna take a long time to get that pony....

I can't wait till next week. We're always so poor on the weeks Mike doesn't get paid! I can't wait till he gets the ticket thing straightened out so he can go back to Pizza Inn for awhile...

Yay for piratey stuff!

Yay! The Stars won last night, and they play Edmonton tonight, and that's an age-old rivalry that they shouldn't have any problem winning. At least we hope! They've only lost one game on this road trip, so maybe they've finally figured out that they gotta start scoring goals...

I had a good weekend. I didn't have to work Monday but Mike did, so I used the time to get a lot done. I cleaned my house. Really really well. It looks nice...too bad I don't have the energy to keep it this clean all the time! I also started redoing my bathroom this weekend. I've got this whole West Indies pirate thing going on in there now. It's pretty cool. You know, palm trees and stuff. All I have left to do is paint the walls, and I'm going to build a shelf to go around the inside of the bathtub alcove. Yay for home improvment! Would have finished this weekend but I ran out of money...still gotta buy paint and some 1x12's...and brackets...Well, I'm about outta time now, but I'll keep you updated!

Loose teeth are yuck.

I can't wait till tomorrow. We are soooo broke this week....I think we've got twenty-eight cents in our checking account! Thank goodness we both get paid this week...I think I've already spent most of it anyway!

The Stars won a very very important game Tuesday, 3-0...their next four games will probably determine if they make the palyoffs or not. I know it's only January, but they're in a pretty desperate situation!

Autumn now has her second loose tooth...appearently the novelty has worn off because this one is no big deal. Which is OK with me because loose teeth are gross. She was always wanting me to feel the other one. Ew.

I have to make a wheat-free gluten-free lactose-free cake tonight for a kid's birthday...I hope it turns out ok because I know the consistancy will be different and it's gonna be hard to determine when it's done! Hopefully I can get it mostly done before the game starts at 7:30...

At least SOMEONE'S playing well...

Autumn finally lost her tooth last night...it would seem that the tooth fairy ws fresh out of quarters and so she got some body glitter instead. But she seemed to like it just the same! She also got a certificate that she thought was cool.

The Stars lost again yesterday. I just hope they make the playoffs...It was a good third, they were down 4-0 but battled back , allowing no shots and scoring two goals...but they still lost, 4-2.Oh well, at least we're not Pittsburgh. You gotta feel sorry for Mario Lemieux-his team only has 28 points.

This kid Brian Boucher's shutout streak ended in a 1-1 tie yesterday...on a puck that bounced in off his own defensman. That's gotta suck. He claims to be relieved that it's over...pressure, I guess. He had five straight shutouts - a record - and hadn't been scored on in more that 332 minutes. Wow.

cookie recipe

Here's that cookie recipie I promised you...

Ingredients:
1 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup brown sugar
lemon juice
4 eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups dried fruit
1 bottle Juse Cuervo Tequilla

Sample the Cuervo to check for quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar, mix again. At this point it's best to check the Cuervo again, have another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick the friggin fruit up off the floor....Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo again to check for tonsistincy. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet. Check Cuervo. Now sift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cuervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher...

6-0

After having done so well for so long, the Stars were completely embarrassed the other night, losing 6-0 to Phoenix. And now they can't seem to do anything but tie...I guess we've just got to face the fact that we're in for a mediocre to poor season....

It's cold out. Really cold. It even froze last night. In fact, it's still below freezing. The doggies got to sleep inside, but they wanted out at about 1:30. Never fails. I tried to talk them out of it, but they really wanted out....and they were really cold when I let them back in this morning, too!

Got a great cookie recepie yesterday, and if I have time this afternoon I will share it....Brandon started a new class yesterday for various reasons, but he really seems to like it. The kids in this class are a bit older, I think he's the youngest one in there, but he seems to doing just fine...

i must go and pack the kiddos lunches now....

Return of the King

well, vacation is officially over today, and it's back to work as usual. Brandon did not want to get up today either...

We finally got to go see Ruturn of the King yesterday. I was beginning to think we were never going to get to! Overall, it was very good but I was just a tad disappointed that they left out the bit after the battle at Minas Tirith where Aragorn used the athelas which was a minor part but still rather important to the story as a whole, and they also left out both Aragorn and Arwen's wedding, and the scouring of the Shire at the end which were both rather major parts...although what can you do, given that you only have three and a half hours....

It figures that the one day I have to get up early during the holiday, the kids sleep until after 7:00...I have inservice today, that mysterious day that schoolkids always wonder about...

We got to go to the game on New Year's Eve, but the Stars tied. It's good because they're on an unbeaten streak right now of (I think) their last ten games....but it's bad because they should have won. It was 1-0 and stupid Montreal scored with one minute left in the game, and the Stars wouldn't-- would NOT -- shoot the puck in overtime....it was a bad point. But at least I stayed up till midnight this year...
