Frog are funny

I'm SORRY!!! It made me laugh!

A Frog Story -

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack. "Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday."

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager. Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says, " There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?"

The bank manager looks back at her and says..."It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan, His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Oh, that's funny stuff.

Just curious

I really need to stop doing things "just to see what happens." Last night I let a candle burn all the way down on a glass candle plate just to see what would happen. I had a pretty good idea, but, you know, I had to see. The candle still had the sticker on the bottom, so once it burned through the wax, I had a pretty good flame going.

Then the plate exploded. Glass flew across the room and there was wax everywhere.

Oops.

Some random stuff

We got a new fifty gallon aquarium this weekend. I'm very excited about that because now I can go get new fishies. Yay! And the very best part is that it was free!

Guess what? The neighbors behind is have put their house up for sale! Bad news is that the houses around here don't sell very fast (overload, probably) but let's hope, aye? They're only asking 119,000 for it.

Fall classes start for Odyssey today, which means that work for me is back to normal. The only bad news is that I don't yet know what "normal" is as I don't have a schedule for this year yet.

I want to have an electrician come out and put bigger fuses or whatever it is that you have to do to keep stuff from tripping all the time. I need more electricity outdoors and in the garage. But that doesn't sound like it's something that's in my price range at all...

School for the kids starts in two more weeks. I can't wait.

Shopping sucks

I recently went on another of my sporadic forays into the world of clothes shopping. I hate shopping, especially for pants. But I really really need new work pants and I just can't find any that fit. So we drove to Arlington where I had no luck at all, and then came home where I spent three hours online looking for khaki pants. Just plain khaki pants. Not khaki colored denim, not with a big flare, not embroidered, not ultra-low-on-waist, not "cute"...just plain career pants to wear to work. I got nada. It's VERY DIFFICULT to find pants that have a small enough waist size and also a 32" inseam that are NORMAL. I hate having to shop in the juniors' department. I don't like trendy clothes, and I can't wear them to work anyway. The only place I found a pair was in the Penney's catalogue for forty dollars. Or two for fifty. I don't even have forty dollars for one pair, much less fifty for two. I was hoping for the twenty dollar price range...

Speaking of clothes, I went through the kids' clothes since it's back to school time. Autumn has fifteen pairs of pants that fit her. That's 15. And that's not even counting the capris and gauchos and skirts. he definitely won't need pants. Brandon, on the other hand, has two pairs. But to be fair, he's got plenty of warm shirts; Autumn only has two shirts with long sleeves.

I also cleaned out the garage this weekend. That was loads of fun. I've discovered I own four tape measures. But I got a lot of junk out of there, and now there's room, which is nice.
