Life, Random Thoughts and a Fair Amount of Hockey

Been a while...

Bet you guys missed me!

Lots going on, of course; lets see if I can get it all...

I left work early on Wednesday because it was sooo dead; it seems lots of people didn't have to work Wednesday and so no one brought their kids to school. That was nice, I got to start my holiday early!

We had to spend National Senseless Turkey Slaughter Day in Plano. I had to fix a drink just before leaving in order to tolerate the hour long drive there. I was also introduced to a fun new game called Blokus-it's a strategy game that's very cool. I liked it a lot. Oh! also, I turned on KZPS at noon and was worried because Alice's Resturaunt wasn't on. I mean, corporate radio sucks, but surely they wouldn't do away with a long standing tradition!! But finally when I was about to give up, it came on at 12:15. It's not Thanksgiving without Alice's Resturaunt. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, crawl out from under your stone and find a copy of this song (and I use the term loosely; it's mostly talking) and listen to it.

Friday, I stayed at home. Only crazy people shop the day after Thanksgiving.

Saturday was Autumn's birthday party. We got her a hamster that she named Jessica after her best friend. Jessica wants a hamster named Autumn now. Unfortunatly, it seems no one was keeping track of her stuff, so she doesn't know who gave her what, so the only person getting a thank you note is Gramps in California. Sorry! Also, my hair dryer blew up this day.

Sunday, we went to Build-a-Bear where she got a Husky and a little baby Husky to go with it. She'd pretty cute. Then we had to go to the store to buy a new hair dryer. I haven't looked at hair dryers in several years; apparently it's good now to forcefully blow billions of negativly charges atoms at your hair now. Who knew? All I care is that my hair's dry.

Now it's Monday. Back to work.

Shocking Statement

A quarter way into the season, the New York Rangers have 35 points. 35! The Rangers!! That's second best in the league!!

Cupcakes

I firmly believe that the least helpful people in the entire world work at the USDA. Just thought you'd like to know.

The Stars won again last night with an offensive explosion in the third period. The game was tied at two after two periods of play, which is scary because Columbus sucks. But then the Stars scored four in the final period and won the game 6-3. Also, I saw a guy on Columbus head a puck off his helmet like in soccer. That's not something you see every day.

Astute Observation of the Day

Just because "cupcake" starts with the word "cup" doesn't mean that is will sit nicey-nice in your cupholder form work to the store to the bank to home. Don't try it.

Age is relative

Another birthday has come and gone and I still don't feel a day older than I did when I was seventeen. While I don't think that's a bad thing, I know my mother despairs of me ever "growing up," whatever that means.

I didn't tell you about my cool new book, "How to Hold a Crocodile." It's the coolest book ever! It tells you all kinds of useful things like how to become a saint, how to become the king (or queen) of England, how to make a mummy, how to leave the Earth, hold a pigeon, play the bagpipes, brandish a baton, fire a cannon, all KINDS of cool stuff! I love it!

My new favorite person (or) The shortest post ever

Guess what? Ed sent me Revenge of the Sith this weekend. Know why? cuz he rules!

Didn't work today, so I did some shopping. Got Autumn's birtday present and some assorted sundries, still not done and Christmas shopping though. Ew.

Harry Potter this weekend! Yay!

Happy Birthday!

Ha! I have a four day weekend! That's right, I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday! Ha! Know why? Cuz we're allowed to take our birthday off at work, that's why. Also, I haven't used my personal day for this quarter, so I took Monday and Tuesday off. Ha!

I don't think I ever mentioned the bloody vodka...Renée found this vodka that's called Vampire Vodka, and it's red. Hehe! Also it's English, which is a bit wierd, but the bottle's cool. And the dye in it is so strong that it seems no matter what you put in it, it's still red. Cool.

The Stars lost yesterday. Boo. The game was one long power play, and to be honest. not all that inseresting. Thew didn't trail until the very end of the game but it still just didn't hold my attention. Oh well.

Something's wrong with our cat...

..as in he's psychotic, neurotic, unbalanced, just plain wierd. Really. This is our new kitten Lucius that I'm talking about, and the kitty is a strange one. For one, he apparently enjoys falling. He'll perch on the edge of the couch or bed and lean over till he falls off. Then he'll do it again. Also, he fetches. Seriously. I can toss a toy for him, and he'll bring it back, then wait for me to throw it again. Wierd. And he greets me when I get home, coming out from wherever he is, yowling and yowling till I pet him. And he purrs like a beastie; you can hear him before you're fully in the room. And he tries to climb the wall all day long. He's a strange one.

New pictures

I finally have some new pictures up--Buzznet changed their format a little which is both good and bad. Good because I can load more pictures at a time and they're loading fully, but bad because it's taking FOREVER to load them up. Oh well.

Now to the good stuff.

The Stars rule.

They were playing horribly for five or six games, but they've come back in their last three. Friday they won 9-1 (yes, that's a nine), Saturday they won 3-2 in a shootout, and last night they won 4-0, finally giving Turco a shutout. Yay! Stu Barnes got a hat trick Friday and Junior Lessard (who has the reddest hair I've ever seen on a man) got his first NHL goal last night. All very good games.

Saturday I took a class on how to do Spreadstone, which it a floor covering (also for walls) that mimics the look of stone. It was very cool and lots of fun, and also taught by a Canadian. Got several very cool sample boards out of it.

Anyway, I guess that's about it for now!

Who's that horrible hockey team??

Bleh. The Stars played horribly against LA Saturday night. I left the room about halfway through the second period because I felt like I ws being punished; I did leave the TV on but it didn't get any better. They'd better fix their game, and soon!

The kids are going to Nana's this weekend, but it's not as nice as it sounds; I've got a class all day Saturday so I'll barely be able to enjoy it! But at least I'll be able to take a nap when I get home...

Not much else is new, it's hard to have fun when you're poor! I still don't even own Revenge of the Sith. I hate being poor!

Trick or Treat!

Stars won (finally) on Saturday. It's cuz I got out my lucky underwear before the game. You boys can thank me later...

We went trick-or-treating last night. The kids brought home enough candy to out-weigh a medium-sized dog. Plus we were out so so long that trick-or-treaters were done by the time we got back, so I had their candy PLUS the three bags I had bought to hand out. Barf. I have pictures that I will hopefully get posted this afternoon sometime! Autumn was a fairy and Brandon and I were Jedi.
