kittens

Lucius' kittens arrived late last night. Since she's pretty young, I stayed up for a little bit to make sure everything was going ok, so I'm really tired now. She had 4 kittens, which is two more than I've gotten rid of. So...who needs a kitten? There's a choice of colors, even! Come on, you know you want one...

no more hockey...

Well, the Oilers didn't win last night, but it was a good game. Final score was Hurricanes 3, Oilers 1. Edmonton could have won, but they didn't really come to play until the third period. Carolina ran all over them for the first two. And now, no more hockey till October. Sigh.

I think I may have possibly warped my daughter though, she cried for a long time because Edmonton lost...

Press 2 for translation...

If I have to press nine for Spanish, then I assume that if I stay on the line I get to hear English, right? Well, okay, than the people who hire there customer service guys need to make them talk first! I'm so tired of trying to get help from Iranians who understand English just fine but can't speak it. Mike, thank God, can understand the accent, so he's now my personal customer service go between.

We live in America. Speak American.

Speaking of which, a funny thing happened yesterday. Somehow, one of the kids managed to turn on the Spanish on the satellite. It took me forever to get the English back...

Oh, Canada

If you ever get the opportunity to watch a Canadian team play hockey at home, tune in early enough to catch the national anthem. It doesn't matter who sings it or what the quality of the rendition is, the important thing is to watch the crowd. They'll sing. Every single one of them. Generally loud enough to be heard over the featured singer. Canadian hockey fans are a proud lot.

In fact, if Edmonton wins tonight (please please Oil!) Game 6 will be in Edmonton Saturday night at 7:00 (CST) on NBC. Even if you don't watch the game, turn on the TV and watch the anthem. It's worth it.

X-Men!

We got to go see the new X-Men movie Friday. From an unobjective point of view, the movie probably wasn't all that great, but since I'm NOT unobjective and love all things X, I enjoyed it. To be honest, though, it could have been better; it seemed a little shoddy. And the directing sucked big time, and the movie was too short for everything they tried to introduce. But I liked it anyway. No Gambit, though. And Nightcrawler wasn't in this one either, guess he already went off to be a priest.

I went to get new sunglasses the other day so that I'd have an extra pair before we went on vacation. They label them all now with little stickers whether they're men's or ladies'. No shock to most of you...but it turns out I've been buying men's sunglasses all my life. The girl's sunglasses were ew.

Game 4 of the Finals tonight. Go Edmonton!

Cup Finals, rotten food and more!

geez. It's been weeks since I've actually had an entry in this thing.

Stanley Cup Finals started Monday. The Oilers lost 5-4, but I have faith. It was a very exciting game.

My dishwasher started leaking a little on Monday. When we started taking it apart, we found about four years worth of compacted, black rotten food and crap stuck in it. It was quite possibly the worst smell I've smelled ever. Ew.

Been having a lot of problems with the monitor lately; it keeps going all dark while we're using the computer. It used to fade in and out occasionally while the computer was on, but now it likes to go dark and not come back. It doesn't seem to affect the computer performance though, so I guess it's just the monitor. Pain in the rear though.

Autumn's official last day of school is tomorrow. She's very happy, it's been killing her that Brandon gets to stay home while she still has to go to school. Also, they're going to go to the lake house this weekend, so Mike and I get to go see X-Men. Yay! I can't wait. Speaking of Marvel superheros, I saw in the paper that they're putting out new Batgirl comic books (excuse me, graphic novels)in which Batgirl is a lesbian. That ought to appeal to the guys...

Stupid toilet flushes

Carolina won last night. Usually I really don't care one way or another who comes out of the East, but I really for some indefinable reason don't like Carolina. They just seem like upstarts, no matter how long they've been around. Plus their logo looks like a toilet flushing. I do like Rod Brind'amour though, and he did some scoring for them last night. So now we really have to cheer for Edmonton. The Oilers are due, and we don't want to see the Cup in Carolina.

Not much else is new around here. I've been enjoying my mornings without having to get any kids ready for school; that's been nice. Very quiet, plus I manage to leave on time now. It's nice not to have to rush.
