Forever and ever and ever

You'll note the huge discrepancy in dates between now and my list of recent posts. This is because I've been transferring posts for THREE DAYS and I've only made it to October 2003. So, I'll be posting more or less daily (or however often I usually post!!) from now on, and the archives will have to make it over in their own sweet time. Know why? Cuz it's gonna take forever and ever and ever and ever......

Sorry it's been awhile....and what percentage of these posts do you think start with that line? Anyway. I started playing stupid Pharaoh again, so it's been taking up too much time. I finally checked my email today after about five days, and my inbox was overflowing! So I'm not dead or anything, sorry if I scared you guys...

The kids had their checkups today, and good thing too; turns out Autumn has strep. She hasn't had symptoms or anything, Dr. Joslin just happened to catch it in the course of her regular checkup. So. Two weeks of yukky medicine. I should probably let Alison know since Autumn was over there last weekend...

Unless anything's changed I'll get to wear my Jedi costume at work Thursday. One of the other teachers is having a Star Wars party in her class (why do I get the feeling that it wasn't approved??), so I'll make an appearance. All kids need a real Jedi at their party...

Renée had a gigantic inflatable slip-n-slide at Jessica's party on Saturday. For some reason, she and I were the only adults that got on it, till we finally bullied Alan into it. Grown-ups just don't know how to have a good time! And man, was it fun. I was pretty sore Sunday, though, not to mention sunburned...

Jeremy Roenick flew off the handle ot a charity golf event over the weekend. (insert shock and suprise) He really made a good point, unfortunatly all most of America will hear of it is either the sound byte of him telling the fans to stay away from the game (way out of context, let me assure you) or the sound byte of him telling the fans to kiss his ass. Gotta say, JR, you really didn't think that through..

Back to work tomorrow. I did enjoy my FOUR-DAY weekend...

Continuation of yesterday's post.....

And yet, now, I have people telling me the archives look just fine to them. Which is odd, because when I click on an archive link, I get every entry posted on those dates for the last two years rather than just that week. Maybe it's a Mac thing again...just like I can't pull up Kodiak's blog on my Mac, and I can't use the links at the top of DFWFF. I have to use the PC for all that...

Man, there has been absolutly NOTHING going on lately. You gotta get into the archives here to read anything interesting! Anyway. I was all excited cuz there's some Star Wars geeks going to se the movie in Arlington this weekend (Arlington?! I can GET there!) and I can't go! There's already too much going on this weekend what with Jessica's birthday and Autumn also spending the night with Nicky and all. Plus it's on a Friday and Mike'll be at work. Damn! I will get to wear my costume to work soon though. Yay!

I've been having to clean out the building across campus (why do I get these jobs?! Oh wait, it's because I have free time in the summer...) because boss lady is moving a bunch of classes over there this fall. Best part? The whiny teachers don't know that yet. I can't wait till she tells them...they'll explode! Ha! Hopefully I'll get done this week and Renée and I can get some more painting done this suummer. We want to redo all the bathrooms...

I just clicked on my archives link--which is something that I never do--and I noticed something really wierd. It seems to be archived by week and month, but not by year. That's so completly bizarre I don't even know what to do about it. Click on the archives and you'll see what I mean...

It's been nearly two weeks since I've had to get Autumn ready for school, and I'd forgotten what a joy it was. Four times I've gotten her up this morning. Each time, I've made sure she was actuakky out of bed. And each time, she's gone back to sleep! Nyargh! It makes me insane! Then she wastes so much time getting dressed that we're rush to get out the door on time, and there's no time for getting teeth brushed and hair brushed and all that. Fun! We have to leave in twenty minutes and she's still not dressed...

The kids were doing "experiments" yesterday involving a wide variety of substances including curry powder. It seems that a lot of it ended up spilled on the dining room carpet, and now my house smells like curry. I can't get rid of the smell...

As I do every day, I poured coffee into one of my many travel mugs right before I left the house the other day. This particular mug was metal, and whan I grabbed it to go, it was HOT! Burned me, it did! Talked like Yoda I just did, I know not why. Anyway, I think the insulation's going in that one, because it was cold by 7:15. Eeeww.

Autumn's swimming lessons end this week, and I despair of the girl learning anything! Mike says she's still not doing much better. On the other hand, I watched her gymnastics class yesterday, and she's coming along in that. With her swimming, all this week and last week all I've had to get ready for school is Brandon. Mornings are much quieter and calmer this way!

Mike said they hired some new guy ages ago to run his machine on day shift. He said the guy's finally supposed to start working by himself this week, and that this guy's not ready at all. I kinda hope he's really bad and gets fired, which I suppose is a bit evil of me, but Mike needs some overtime! He hasn't worked any Fridays in about a month, which means that he's only gotten about 36 hours to each check. They've been tiny!

I've had to resort to Canadian papers for news....at least someone cares!

The Toronto Globe and Mail reports
The National Hockey League and the NHL Players Association have cleared the biggest hurdle in their labour negotiations by agreeing on a formula for a salary-cap system based on team-by-team revenue...also reported it does not mean a new collective agreement is close to completion. The negotiating teams are now working on salary arbitration, free agency, qualifying contract offers and other issues, any of which could be deal-breakers.

I guess this doesn't really fall under the catagory of No News, but it doesn't mean a whole lot either. Granted, it's a big step foward, but there's still a long way to go. Time to get your rear in gear, boys.

Sorry I haven't been here in awhile...to tell the truth, I've just been lazy. I had a few days off work, and I didn't do anything the whole time. I had good intentions, it just didn't happen! I was just happy to keep up with the housework...

Autumn started swimming lessons this week. So far, she's not so good at it--in fact, she sinks like a rock--but she's excited about it, so maybe she'll get better. She's not willing to put her face in the water, so it's slow going...

Check out Yoda's" blog ...it's funny, funny stuff.

I was reading in Kodiak's blog ( I don't know if I've linked to this yet in my side column, but I will--he's a very eloquent writer and incredibly good at expressing his thoughts; rare enough these days) a comment he made about Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show. Now, at the time, I thought, Huh, I didn't know he had a show. He's a funny funny guy, I should check this out. As if I'm up for late shows anymore. The odd thing was, as soon as I woke up this morning, I remembered that I already knew about his show. I've never wached it, but I knew about it. I just thought that was an odd first thought for the day. My eyes weren't even open yet, and I thought, "Hey, wait, I knew that." Wierd.

I was first introduced to Mr. Ferguson (having not watched the Drew Carey show very often) in VH1's "decade shows"--you know, I Love the 70's and all that-- and I think he's quite funny. His take on the whole bit several years back with Hugh Grant and the prostitute was terribly funny. I laugh every time I think about it. They should get him on Who's Line...that's a great show. One of the few things on TV that make me laugh; I hate reality shows and there's no sitcoms anymore.. People are always suprised that I don't ever watch comedies (didn't mean to switch subjects so fast, but I'm talking about movies now) given that I laugh a lot and like to make other people laugh, but the thing is, American comedies are so stupid. I hate feeling like my IQ is dropping when I watch a movie. They're all either stupid teen movies or "romantic comedies" which is another phrase for crap. Give me a good coup movie anytime. Or a sweeping epic drama. Or something where stuff blows up. I will, however, watch British comedy, but that's different, because they're Brits. There are a few American actors I think are funny; Nicholas Cage and Will Smith leap to mind, and then of course the guys and gals from the now defunct era of sitcom stardom...

My grandparents were down this weekend, and while it was great to see them, I'm exhausted now. I can't wait till this weekend so I can sleep sleep sleep! And now I've run out of time, so I gotta cut this off. Bye now!
