Poor Pens

It took ten tries, but the Penguins have finally won a game.

And can I just say that no one ever heard ME say that Mr. Crosby was going to turn the team around and singlehandedly win the league...

In case you're keeping track, he's got 2 goals and 10 assists and is a -2 on the season. Don't get me wrong; 12 points in ten games is a great clip, especially if he can keep up the pace. But if he's going to drag the Penguins up, he needs to do less passing and more scoring...

stupid officials

The scoreboard said Sharks 5, Stars 4... but the Stars won last night. Or they should have. They scored less than a minute into overtime, but the ref waved it off for NO REASON. It was over the line, there was no whistle, no interference, no kicking, and it was in! The worse part is that it's the SECOND time a goal has been waved off for no apparent reason for them this year. Oh! And also in the game last night, the Sharks were awarded a penalty shot after they got a scoring chance off. It was a badly officiated game. Stupid refs.

long time, no...er...type

Lots of stuff going on...

We went to the fair Saturday. We saw pigs race and they were the cutest darn things you've ever seen. We didn't get to see everything, though; my head hurt so bad we had to leave around 6:30. Boo. Also, the Stars played and Mike said it was a really good game--unfortunatly, my headache rendered me insensible by then and I was asleep. Boo again.

Brandon got his glasses Thursday, I can't remember if I mentioned that. He's dealing with them better than I expected, he doesn't mess with them too much...

I turned on my TV on the off chance that we'd get the national brodcast of the game. Guess what? We don't even get OLN anymore! DishNet blmes Comcast. OLN blames DishNet, and I DON'T GET HOCKEY!! This bites!!!

Halloween soon! I love costumes!!

Oh, we didn't take the camera to the fair because it was full of pictures and I couldn't offload them because when Mike and Chris did whatever they did to the computer, the software was lost, and I couldn't find the CD to reinstall anywhere. Then, I realised that not only was the software gone, all my PICTURES were gone too!!! Finally found the software yesterday, but I guess the pictures are lost. Boo. Again.

My birthday's November 15.

Revenge of the Sith comes out the first.

Coincidence??

My car, part II

After we towed my car to Midlothian(sixty-five dollars), the guy at the shop said he couldn't fix it because it was a computer problem; there was something wrong with the theft deterrant system. So he charged us forty bucks and told us to take it to the dealership. Another sixty-five dollars and we towed it to the dealership in Waxahachie Monday morning, and they finally got around to looking at it Monday afternoon; called Tuesday and said the part we needed was four hundred dollars and also he didn't have it on hand and had to go get it. So. Tuesday afternoon he calls back and says it's ready, only guess what? Mike didn't leave me the card, so I couln't go get it with my mom like I had planned. So I called Robin and she said she's not doing anything today, so she'll go with Mike to get my car. Yay! I get my car back today!

Also, the Stars lost Sunday. Boo. It was a late game, didn't start till nine, so I fell asleep before the end which was just as well. But there was a spot on the radio right before the third period that was really funny. The NHL has a new slogan this year; instead of "the coolest game on ice" (which was cheesy), it's "My NHL" (which is really cheesy). So anyway, there's thes spot where Ralph (their announcer) is talking about how "my NHL has fun new rules, smaller goalie equipment and more open ice" or whatever, and then their color commentator Razor bursts in and says, "Well, my NHL has wizards and trolls and hot Brazailian supermodels!" and I think he said something else but I was laughing too hard to hear it. Anyway.

Also I guess I don't know how to spell Brazailian, but you know what i mean.

This weekend was a mess.

Friday, my car died on the way to work; I had to call Mike and wake him up to take me to work. He put a new battery in it, drove it up to the school, and it proceeded to die again. Yay. So he ended up calling a friend of his to tow it to the shop here in town on Sunday...that's where it is now. The general concenses is that it's the fuel pump...I love being poor!

Brett Hull retired. For good. I'm very, very sad!
At 41, it wasn't unexpected. What was unexpected is that the announcment came just five games into the season, hours before he was to take to the ice. What's worse, the only time Phoenix has played Dallas this season--the only time I'd have been able to watch him play--was the game on OLN that I didn't get to see because of stupid Dish Network. The last time he'd ever play in Dallas, and no one knew it, and I DIDN"T GET TO SEE IT!! Arrgh! The only good news is that he's always spoken of working for the Stars organization, and he'll live in Dallas now, and the Stars said the door was open. Maybe they'll invent a position for him like they did for Carbonneau.

Once again, we've waited until the last minute to find discount cupons to the fair. McDonalds has them, but the question is whether they still have them this late! I told Mike to call around today...

Gotta be kidding me

The game wasn't on OLN last night. I called the satellite company and after sitting on hold for ten minutes the woman said she had no idea why I had a bear-hunting show on my television. She said all her information said the Stars game should be on and she had no new information otherwise. Thanks a lot, you're really helpful. So I looked up OLN's website and of course they don't have a phone number but I can leave feedback! Yeah, that would be expedient. I did it anyway for what it was worth. Then (I was listening to the game on the radio) in the news break the guy says that not all subscribers were getting the game "for some reason." That's helpful. Stupid OLN!

Anyway, the Stars did win, so that's one good thing...

stupid OLN

Guess what I didn't do last night? I didn't watch Sidney Crosby's national debut on OLN. Know why? IT WASN'T ON!! There was a show about the 2005 draft, then it went straight on into some other show. So I pulled up the guide, and it claims I'm watching the Penguins. Huh. Looks like some shipwreck show. So I left it on thinking they'd cut to the game, but they never did! So I pulled up OLN's website, and guess what it says? "NHL Hockey! Tune in now!" I was SO hacked off. I want to see this kid play! Everyone says he's the next great one, but I'll reserve judgement for my own, thank you very much. It'll take a lot to single-handedly drag the Pens up by their bootstraps. They better get it fixed, too; the Stars play tonight on OLN.

Stuff

We took Brandon back to the eye doctor on Thursday, and it turns out he's got a lazy eye. I did too when I was in kindergarten, but he's got it easier than I did; he's only got to have an eye patched for two hours a day! He hates it, too, but oh well. Gotta do it. We're going this weekend to get his glasses, so we'll see how that goes.

The Stars gave away a point Saturday night. Turco played fine, but the skaters were turning the puck over all over the place and couldn't hit the net if their lives depended on it. But still, they had managed a 2-2 score. Then, with about six and a half minutes left in the game, Jason Arnott took a clean hit along the boards and suffeted a nasty little gash under his eye that apparently caused him to completely lose his mind. Granted, the entire side of his face was covered in blood, but really. Control yourself. Anyway, the upshot of all that was that all ten guys became entangled in a small knot and penalties ensued, the most notable being a 5-minute major and two minute minor to Arnott. Now, the thing with major penalties in hockey is that the opposing team can score as many times as they want in that five minutes, as opposed to a minor penalty that ends if the other team scores. So. Here we are with less than seven minutes left and Arnott's earned seven penalty minutes. Now, the minor penalty runs first and there was no score, but Colorado did score halfway through the major. And since it was a major, the Stars were still one man down negating any chance of a comeback. So, they lost 3-2. Pththtth.

Our PC is currently at Chris' house, undergoing...something. Upgrades, I think. I don't know, it's Mike's computer. He's going insane having to use mine; God forbid he have to use a Mac. He'll live.

Stars season opener

When LA's first shot of the game turned into a goal, I was disappointed. When their second shot of the game turned into a goal, I was upset. When they were down 3-0 less than five minutes into the game, I suddenly remembered that Turco was the first person I bought for my fantasy team. Damn! And when they left the first period down 4-0, I figured that eighteen months was too long in the drawer and the luck had worn off my lucky Stars undies.

Then they remembered who they were.

The Stars came back to score five straight unanswered goals to win he game 5-4. Turco settled down, and Zubie was the hero with three points. Good job! Yay!

HOCKEY!!

It's here, it's here, it's finally here! Opening night!! YAY!!!

Got on my lucky Dallas Stars undies!

Hockey hockey hockey!

Every team plays tonight; which is not the norm for opening night. Guess no one wanted to wait. The Stars play at 7:30, but there's two other games on at 6:00 I can watch until then. Yay!!! Some of the "experts" are forcasting the Stars to finish at the bottom of the division. Codswallop! Have they noticed that Dallas kept their top players? I can't wait. Yay!! YAY!

New Kitty!

I accidently brought home a new kitten. Oops. He's super cute, though; he's smoke grey but he's got a Siamese body and tail.

Brandon lost his first tooth last night..then he swallowed it. Tooth Fairy gave him double pay for pain and suffering.

Uhhh...can't thing of a thing worth relating to you besides that...
